The Kigali Genocide Memorial’s future is being secured through social enterprises, which generate revenue from visitors. 

The Gift Shop, café and visitor experience are managed by Champion Humanity Enterprises, which employs 30 people. 

In 2019, enterprises contributed $250,000 to the Kigali Genocide Memorial.  While this was significantly reduced during the pandemic there has been gradual
improvement.

Through bounceback during 2022, the enterprises aim to contribute $200,000.
